Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to be featured in an interview with *VoyageLA*, where I was able to share my journey as the founder of Purple Diamond Press and my mission to inspire children through literature. This interview marks a wonderful moment in my career, one that highlights both the challenges and the joys of building a publishing company dedicated to creating positive, engaging stories for young readers.
In the *VoyageLA* interview, I shared the origins of my first book, What If We Were All The Same!, and the personal mission that led me to create it. This book, which focuses on promoting diversity, inclusion, and acceptance, has become the cornerstone of my work. Seeing its positive impact on children, families, and educators alike reinforced my belief that there is a true need for stories that teach kindness, empathy, and understanding.
I also opened up about my own experiences living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease and navigating life with a disability. These experiences have deeply shaped the themes I explore in my books—kindness, perseverance, and resilience are central to my work. I hope that through these stories, children will learn to embrace differences and approach the world with compassion.
The interview with *VoyageLA* gave me the opportunity to talk about how Purple Diamond Press has grown over the years. From one book to a growing catalog, our team now includes incredible authors like Nycole Freer and Imeisha Williams, and we are proud to publish stories that cover important topics ranging from financial literacy and environmental safety to conquering fears and anti-bullying.
This feature is not just a reflection of my work but also a celebration of the community that has supported me along the way. I’m forever grateful to my father, who has been by my side since the beginning, offering unwavering support and guidance. Without him and the continued encouragement from my family, this journey would not have been possible.
As Purple Diamond Press continues to grow, I’m excited for the future. Our mission remains steadfast: to make a difference in the lives of children through literature that is both educational and fun. I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us next, and I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to share our message with *VoyageLA* readers and the world.
