I Did the Impossible: My Disability Is Not A Setback

There were people who underestimated me. People who dismissed me. People who looked at my disability before they looked at my talent. People who assumed I would never build something meaningful.
And yet… here we are.
What started as one story and one determined dream has grown into Purple Diamond Press Inc. — an independent publishing company that has published more than 40 children’s books and helped countless young readers feel seen, valued, and inspired.
I built this company after being overlooked by the very world I wanted to contribute to. The very world I wanted to fit in so badly.
I built it while navigating multiple disabilities. I built it during uncertainty. I built it through rejection, exhaustion, setbacks, financial pressure, criticism, health issues, near-death experiences, and moments where giving up would have been easier.

But I kept going.
Today, our books have reached schools, families, educators, nonprofits, and communities across the world. Stories from Purple Diamond Press have been recognized by educators, featured in classrooms, supported by organizations, and embraced by readers who believe children deserve books filled with kindness, inclusion, empathy, and hope.
That did not happen by accident.
It happened because resilience outweighed fear. Because no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Because my faith protected me. Because I know God is good.
Purple Diamond Press Was Built With Purpose
This company was never just about selling books.
It was about creating opportunities.
Creating representation.
Creating stories that children could carry with them long after the final page.
It was about proving that people with disabilities are innovators, leaders, creators, entrepreneurs, and visionaries.
And it was about showing other aspiring authors that you do not need permission to build something extraordinary.
You just need the courage to begin.
We’re Just Getting Started
As Purple Diamond Press continues to grow, we are more excited than ever for what lies ahead. We look forward to welcoming new authors and illustrators, expanding our reach, and continuing to publish stories that make a difference worldwide.
The vision is bigger now. The mission is stronger now. And the future is brighter now.
Because the impossible?
I already did it.
